CARL WEISSNER READS BUKOWSKI
With a Bukowski video by Thomas Schmitt (35 min.)
Carl Weissner, known for his translations of Bukowski, Burroughs, Dylan and Zappa prose and lyrics, will be giving one of his extremely rare appearances and presenting a Bukowski-programme on the 22nd March 2010.
He will be reading poetry classics and letters written from Los Angeles by his long-time friend Buk, for whom he paved the way to success in Europe for as his literary agent. Afterwards, the world-best Bukowski documentary (by Thomas Schmitt, WDR Köln 1990) will be shown.
Weissner: "You don't have to be dead drunk (even though there is no harm in it), to translate Bukowski properly, but you have to be professional about it, and very passionate."
